How Much Money Do You Need to Migrate to Australia?

This is the question clients ask us more than any other, and the honest answer is: more than you think, but less than you fear. The total depends on which visa you are pursuing, how many people are in your application, and your occupation.

## Pre-Application Costs

Skills Assessment: $300–$1,500 AUD Every skilled migration applicant needs a skills assessment. Fees vary — Engineers Australia charges around $825 AUD, VETASSESS around $715 AUD, ANMAC (nursing) around $700 AUD. Some professions require additional evidence or reassessments that add to this.

English Language Test: $350–$420 AUD An IELTS or PTE Academic sitting costs approximately $380–$420 AUD. Some applicants need more than one sitting.

Police clearances: $50–$150 AUD equivalent depending on country of issue.

## Visa Application Fees (2024–25)

Australian visa fees are set by the government and non-refundable:

- 189 Skilled Independent: $4,640 AUD (main applicant), $2,320 AUD (adult dependent), $1,165 AUD (child) - 190 Skilled Nominated: $4,640 AUD + same dependent fees - 491 Regional: $4,640 AUD - 482 TSS: $3,115 AUD - 186 ENS: $4,770 AUD

## Immigration Agent Fees

A reputable MARA-registered agent charges $3,000–$8,000 AUD for a full skilled migration application depending on complexity. Avoid anyone offering it for under $2,000. Immigration is highly regulated and proper service has a cost.

## Medical Examinations

Health checks for permanent residence applications cost approximately R2,500–R4,500 in South Africa, depending on the panel physician.

## Relocation Costs

These are separate from migration fees: - Flights: R15,000–R40,000 per adult depending on timing - Freight/shipping: R25,000–R120,000 depending on volume - Rental bond and first month: $2,000–$5,000 AUD depending on city

## Total Budget
