Work and Holiday Visa

Australia • Immigration Consulting

Overview

The Work and Holiday visa (Subclass 462) allows young people from participating countries to live, work, and travel in Australia for up to 12 months, with the possibility of second and third year extensions.

This visa is similar to the Subclass 417 Working Holiday visa but applies to a different set of countries and has additional requirements, including tertiary education qualifications and, for some nationalities, government support letters.

Visa holders can work for any employer but are generally limited to six months with the same employer. Completing specified work in regional areas can open the door to second and third year extensions, making this visa a potential gateway to extended stays in Australia.

Who is this permit for?

This visa is for young adults from specific partner countries who want to holiday in Australia while working to cover their costs. The eligible country list is different from the 417, and some nationalities also need to hold a degree or receive support from their home government.
