## The Age Cut-Off on Points-Tested Visas
The Subclass 189, 190, and 491 visas all require applicants to be under 45 at the time of invitation. Above 45 you score zero age points, and the invitation itself is simply not available. This is a hard rule with no waiver.
If you are 45 or over and hoping to move independently through the points system, that door is closed. But other doors are open.
## Employer-Sponsored Pathways
The 482 TSS visa and the 186 Employer Nomination Scheme have no upper age limit. An Australian employer can sponsor you regardless of age, provided you meet the skill and English requirements for the role.

## Partner Visa
If you have an Australian citizen or permanent resident partner, the Partner visa has no age restriction. This is a genuine pathway that applies to both de facto and married couples.
## Business Migration
The 188 Business Innovation and Investment visa has an upper age limit of 55 for most streams. If you have a genuine business track record and can make a qualifying investment in Australia, this may be relevant.
## Parent Visa
If your children are Australian citizens or permanent residents, the Contributory Parent Visa allows parents to join them in Australia. Processing times are long and costs are significant, but there is no effective upper age limit.
