According to reports, the South African Football Association (Safa) admitted the team had “experienced challenges regarding visas for some players and officials”, while national broadcaster SABC described the situation as an “administrative bungle”.
Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie publicly expressed his frustration, calling for accountability and stating on X:
“I need a report and action must be taken against those responsible for this mess. We are being made to look like fools.”
