A registered nurse or physiotherapist aged 26–32, with:
IELTS 8.0 (20 points for Superior English)
Bachelor's degree (15 points)
8+ years post-qualification experience (15 points)
Age 25–32 (30 points)
MLTSSL occupation ✓
Points total: 80–90 points. This profile receives invitations in most monthly rounds, often within 1–3 months of submitting an EOI.
Profile 2: The Young IT Professional
A software engineer or cybersecurity analyst aged 27–30, with:
ACS skills assessment complete
IELTS 8.0
Strong Australian work experience (if any) adding further points
Points score: 80–90
Gets invited quickly. The 189 (no employer required) is typically within reach.
Profile 3: The Trade-Qualified Electrician with a Partner
An electrician aged 28 with:
TRA skills assessment complete
IELTS 7.0 (Proficient English — 10 points)
Partner with an MLTSSL skills assessment (+10 points)
State nomination (190 — +5 points) or regional nomination (491 — +15 points)
Points total with 491: 30 + 10 + 10 + 15 + 10 = 75 points — highly competitive for regional nomination.

A secondary school maths or science teacher aged 29 with:

5–8 years experience (10 points)
Teaching is on the MLTSSL with active state nominations in most states. This profile regularly receives invitations.
What Makes It Harder
Age over 40 — age points drop sharply after 32 (25 points at 33–39, 15 at 40–44, 0 at 45+)
IELTS below 7.0 — 0 points for English, vs 10 or 20 for higher scores
Occupation on STSOL only — limits to employer-sponsored pathways
Short work history — less than 3 years experience
