The Express Entry system is based on points for your age, qualifications, work experience, language abilities and your profession being a skilled shortage. Typically candidates with scores from 485 – 520 have received invitations to apply for permanent residency within the past 18 months. Candidates have struggled to get enough points for the latest draws, in saying that they have now considered a Provincial Nomination Program (PNP).
Typically one would start with getting their qualifications recognised through the correct authorities and build up their Express Entry portal. Once they have accumulated the correct documentation and are waiting in the Express Entry pool, then a candidate can start exploring PNP options. Each province in Canada has their programs with specific requirements aimed at decreasing the labour shortage in that area.
After finding the most relevant PNP, a candidate will need to show interest and apply through the program and meet all the requirements. PNP draws run concurrently with the Express Entry draws. As soon as a PNP draw has sent the candidate an invite, they will need to apply to that program. An end goal would be successfully submitting the motivational documentation and receiving a Provincial Nomination Certificate. The Provincial nomination certificate will enhance your express entry score by 600 points.
Those 600 points are almost a guarantee to secure an invitation for permanent residency in Canada. The only condition attached to this process is you will be required to live and work in the province that has successfully nominated you.
