If you are married to or in a common-law relationship with a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, they may be eligible to sponsor you for permanent residency status in Canada. This sponsorship program also extends to your dependent children.
Eligibility
You will be eligible to sponsor your spouse, common-law partner and dependent children if you are able to:
- Support them financially
- Ensure they do not need assistance from the government
Processing time
These applications can take anywhere from 6 to 12 months to process once submitted to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Each family will receive a personalised document list as each household’s application will differ. There are many IMM forms that must be completed for this process which your personal Case Manager will complete for you.
